What is New About Digital History

Now that we’ve been introduced to some of the basic ideas of digital history, I’d like to hear your assessment of what is new about doing history digitally.  Give some examples and tell us why teaching or research or public outreach is different in a digital regime and how.

We will postpone reading Edward Tufte until next week, but we will discuss the writings in Matthew Gold’s Debates in the Digital Humanities.  In addition, please read Stephen Robertson’s blog post on Digital History vs. Digital Humanities.  Use the Week 5 Category.
